Everett Transit is a municipally owned and operated transit system of the City of Everett. It is a division of the Transportation Services Department, along with the Motor Vehicles Division.
The Mayor is the Chief Executive Officer of the City. The Everett Municipal Code gives the Mayor authority to modify service and adjust schedules. The Everett City Council has the authority to establish fares and recommend tax rates, subject to voter approval.
A volunteer citizen advisory board, the Transportation Advisory Committee (TAC), provides input and advisory direction to city staff and administration for transit service and other transportation-related matters.
Everett Transit's Director, Tom Hingson
Tom Hingson is the Transportation Services Director and part of the Mayor's senior management team. He started his career in public transportation over 35 years ago, as a part-time bus driver. Along the journey he has had the privilege to learn and practice customer service, service development, driver scheduling, planning, operations, project development and executive leadership. Tom has been with the City of Everett for about two decades and became Director of Transportation Services in 2005. Tom serves on board of the Washington State Transit Insurance Pool and is a past-president of the pool. He is the immediate past-president of the Washington State Transit Association and serves on several regional, transportation-related committees. Tom is a bike rider, bus rider and walker, but like most of us, drives to work alone most of the time.
