New year, new fares for Everett Transit
Bus fares increase to $1.50 on Jan. 1
EVERETT, WA – Beginning Tuesday, Jan. 1, Everett Transit riders will pay a new fare for the first time since 2013. The fares will increase in two stages in 2019.
On Jan. 1, adult fares will increase from $1 to $1.50, youth fares will increase to $1 and fares for seniors and people with disabilities will increase to $0.50 per trip. Fares will increase again on July 1 to $2 for adults on fixed-routes and paratransit and $1.50 for youth. Fares for seniors and people with disabilities will remain at $0.50 in July.
The fare increase is the first of three actions in 2019 to put the agency on a path toward long-term financial sustainability and ridership growth. In March, several bus routes will have new alignments and service levels, creating a network of faster, more direct service.
After the fare changes are fully implemented in July, Everett Transit’s fares will still be the lowest among transit agencies in the central Puget Sound region. Everett Transit is currently evaluating options for implementing a low-income fare alongside other regional partners.
