Effective March 14, 2021 Everett Transit Route 70 will be suspended indefinitely. COVID-19 has affected all industries within our region including transit. As businesses focus on employee safety and the introduction of telecommuting options, transit agencies have seen significant decreases in overall ridership. In April, Everett Transit restored service to Route 70 with six total trips per day. We then added two additional trips per day in October 2020. Since the reintroduction of that service, Route 70 ridership has fallen to less than fifteen people per day spread across eight total trips. As COVID-19 recovery continues we are committed to restoring essential transit service, but the timing of that remains uncertain. We view Route 70 as an important transportation option connecting individuals to major employers and transit hubs. Current transportation needs dictate that we shift these limited resources to make transit available for a broader population who have little to no other transportation options. We appreciate your patience and understanding in this difficult time.
