What is Para Transit?

Everett Para Transit is a wheelchair-accessible, shared-ride transportation service for individuals, when the effects of their functional disability prevent them from using the regular Everett Transit fixed-route bus service.

Paratransit services are available for people who:
  • meet one of the conditions established by the Americans with Disabilities Act* (ADA), and/or
  • are at least 65 years old and have no other means of transportation (non-ADA)
Eligibility is determined through an application process.

*Section 504 Compliance Handbook and ADA define disability as (1) a physical or mental impairment that substantially limits one or more of the major life activities; (2) a record of such an impairment; or (3) being regarded as having such an impairment.

The guidance observes that the definition of disability under the ADA and Section 504 might differ from the definition of disability under other laws, such as the Vietnam Era Veterans Readjustment Assistance Act.
